Here, birdie, birdie!

FINALLY!  I made this bird house at a local ceramic studio I was working at, oh…….about a year and a half ago.  Problem was the roof and the house were fired separately.  The glaze on the roof turned out beautifully but the kiln misfired when the bottom part, the housing, was being bisqued (first firing before glaze).   Result:  bottom could not be glazed!  What to do, what to do?  I decided it was a blessing in disguise allowing me to bring it home and use acrylic paint and acrylic glaze to paint the leaves the same color as the roof and leave the background the nice natural color created by the misfiring.  Fast forward a year and a half this past week, (I told you I was a procrastinator!) and inspired by the early Spring and the singing birds I finally got out my paints and acrylic glazing fluid and finished up the bottom part.  Add a twisted and bent coat hanger with a little help from my husband’s muscles and………VOILA, a new home!  Now to get out there and hang it…c’mon birdies 🙂

About artsynaturenut

I'm a creative warrior constantly fighting my battle with my muse against that nasty critic. I love to paint and do mixed media work either on the canvas or with art journals. I'll dabble in just about everything--bookmaking, photography, writing, etc. and get excited about combining them. Hence the mixed media!
