What month is it?

Drawing a calendar in your journal is a great way to make sure you are accessing your journal every day.  I transfer appts. and anything notable from my little purse calendar.  I’ve also got in the habit of crossing each day off and as long as I’ve got the journal open I spend a little time with writing or doodling or just jotting down something I did that day.

A good method for background color on these lighter weight pages are watercolor pencils.  Draw in areas of color and just a little water blends it and brightens the page.  I used a leaf stamp and different colors of ink to embellish around the borders.  My all time favorite writing tools are my Faber-Castell Pitt pens in a variety of nib sizes.  I also have the Pitt pens in some basic colors with a brush tip.  I like making the calendar spaces large enough to allow me to do a little doodling inside each day if I chose to.

About artsynaturenut

I'm a creative warrior constantly fighting my battle with my muse against that nasty critic. I love to paint and do mixed media work either on the canvas or with art journals. I'll dabble in just about everything--bookmaking, photography, writing, etc. and get excited about combining them. Hence the mixed media!
