Extreme Memories

Loved doing this page!  Another one for my Swatches journal in Kelly Kilmer’s online class.  The prompt here was “Something that humbled me.”  Nothing like spending some time in a vastly different country on the other side of the world to make one aware of how little they know about so many different cultures, lifestyles and beliefs.  I will, forever, be changed by this experience.

This collage is 5″ x 7″ and is a page in a small journal.  Magazine images, washi tape, and a small piece of altered paper (citra-solve on a National Geographic page) make up the components of this piece.  The suggested  collage template was two focal images side by side.  I found the two women but I didn’t like them side by side–the head’s together were too top-heavy so I flipped the smaller one and really like how the first woman seems to be looking downward at the second woman and she seems to be looking out at the viewer.  I think it turned out well.

About artsynaturenut

I'm a creative warrior constantly fighting my battle with my muse against that nasty critic. I love to paint and do mixed media work either on the canvas or with art journals. I'll dabble in just about everything--bookmaking, photography, writing, etc. and get excited about combining them. Hence the mixed media!
